Week 14 of 52 Things To Do In The South Okanagan is focused on enjoying the holiday season as there are only 10 days left until CHRISTMAS!!!
Katie's tree was 12 feet tall!!!
Everyone is searching for the perfect presents, stocking stuffer’s and most importantly a tree to decorate. Some of you may be trudging through the snow and a few of you may be dusting off the ol fake one out of storage. Either way it is great fun to string lights, wrap garland and hang all of your favourite ornaments.
Around the start of December I head out with my twin sister and dad in search of the perfect Christmas tree. We hike through the snow, up hills and down hills, walking and riding the quad with the dog along side until we spot the PERFECTTREE. Now that we have grown up and have our own homes we look for THREE. Yes THREE! Myself and Katie each pick our tree and have to saw them down by hand with a hack saw...Wow you are tired after but SO worth it! Best of all we enjoy a great day with our dad complete with a little hot chocolate and bailey’s.
Now we can’t forget about Christmas baking, who doesn’t enjoy pies, cakes, sugar cookies, almond crescents and candy cane cookies? Every year I get together my sisters, cousins, mom and aunt all together to make huge batches of baked goods J . These are great gifts to hand out to friends or enjoy at home for a treat! It takes us all about 5 hours for the day to get dozen upon dozens of cookies baked but its alot of fun. You never know the great conversations you may have, stories you will hear or what new recipe you may try out... Whether it be by accident or on purpose. This is one family tradition I look forward to every year with the ladies.
These are just two things I enjoy each Christmas but there is so much more from making ornaments, decorating cookies with the kids, decorating stockings, writing cards and well of course going out to play in the snow!
Now I have told you some of my favourite holiday activities, what are yours?
We look forward to hearing them
Until next time
