Market Update - December Stats

Karen had the opportunity to sit in on a conference call with Cameron Muir (BCREA's chief economist) and learned the following key points.

- Sales are up 3.5% this year over last year so it is improving.
- Seasonally adjusted sales up from
 last month.
- Inventory is down this month so helps with oversupply.
- New listings are up 10% from last year.
- Better consumer demand.
- Uncertainty with HST so public may possibly be holding off purchasing.
- Expecting a modest rebound next quarter.
- 2013 will look a lot like 2012 throughout the market.
- Affordability is still the key. 
- Economy weaker. 
- Alberta economy and market looking better.
- U.S. market has bottomed out.
- Inflation in check.
